The Sourcing Specialist shall interface between suppliers, engineering, quality, and manufacturing while providing critical information to support our manufacturing team. This position requires interpersonal skills, patience, assertiveness, and flexibility to complete the task.
Principle Responsibilities
Resolve operational issues with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Customer Service, Accounting, IT, Warehouse, Operation, Import Documents, and Customs Brokers
Organize and carry out vigorous value improvement & cost improvement programs to achieve company goals
Work with engineering in quoting and sourcing new parts
Negotiate the purchase terms and prices with vendors
Responsible for releasing purchase orders and working with Quality and Engineering for qualification for all new parts
Evaluate the current supplier's cost and quality history, reviewing other supplier options and leading strategic sourcing projects
Administers the necessary reports and documents required to support purchasing activities
Work with Quality and Materials to review and help with the disposition of all defective material received from suppliers when required
Maintain product profiles, material master, cost analysis/landed costs for internal and external use
Work with suppliers to resolve procurement issues including, but not limited to, price, quality, service, and delivery
Work with Product Manager, Sales, and Marketing Team to develop new products
Insure on-time delivery
Coordinate with suppliers to determine material availability and expedite order processing
Identify critical items for receiving and incoming inspection to ensure priority handling and smooth material flow
Coordinate expediting activities, communicates change requirements to vendors, and maintains data integrity within SAP
Coordinate discrepancy resolution (material, shipping, invoice), investigation/resolution of other issues regarding purchase orders
Assist others with special projects as required
Serve as an additional operator of the company’s Foreign Trade Zone, including daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks
Competencies:
Analytical skills to understand the correlation among sales history, market demand, and forecast while making a sound procurement decision
Proactive attitude to minimize the company’s risk exposure
Willing to accept multiple tasks in a fast-paced working environment
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree
2+ years purchasing experience is a plus
Negotiation of agreements is a plus
SAP experience is a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office Software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
