The AV Systems Engineer position is responsible for audio/visual/lighting (AVL) of all University classrooms and conference rooms. This includes engineering, planning, control system programming, installation, maintenance, and technical performance of the rooms.
Essential duties:
Provide support engineering, control system programming, installation, maintenance, administration & technical performance for all university-operated audio/visual/lighting systems.Maintain and repair all AVL systems while determining when outside repair is warranted and taking the necessary steps to perform the required maintenance or repairs.Support the primary administrator with networked AVL systems by monitoring all AVL systems, performing routine software/hardware updates, consulting with manufacturing technicians, and making necessary field repairs.Report on the various systems to track usage and monitor maintenance schedules and repairs.Participate in the planning of AVL installations, events, & other university audio/visual/lighting/production needs.Provide training and supervision to assigned Media Services Student Workers and Graduate Assistants.Manage the upkeep of the University media equipment inventory.Qualifications:
One to three years minimum required, three to five years preferred, using standard AVL equipment: sound, video, film, and personal computers, preferably in an academic or related environmentFormal training with industry certification or the ability to obtain certification within the 1st year of employmentMust have ability to demonstrate equivalent practical experienceMust be able to occasionally move equipment, climb ladders, and lift equipment of 50-75 lbs.Must be able to and willing to accommodate a varied workweek and availability to work an occasional night or weekend if requiredMust be able to use word processing & spreadsheet software for reports, graphics, and statisticsCandidates must have:
Demonstrated ability to successfully supervise othersAbility to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with other peopleAbility to plan and organize your own work with limited supervisionCommitment to Regent's core values of Excellence, Innovation, and Integrity
