With expertise in the Science & Technology, Higher Education, and Developer markets, our Flad San Francisco team of creative, intelligent, energetic people help our clients tackle the issues that change people’s lives.How will your days be spentSupport experienced science planner(s) with various project responsibilities. May work on multiple, simultaneous projects.Begin to participate in planning exercises. Start to solve planning issues including departmental relationships and programming parameters.Participate in client and user group interviews for needs assessment and implement lab planning documentation. Begin to understand lab equipment and its impact on research spaces.Begin attending client meetings to observe the presentation process and sometimes participate.Assist in developing lab programming and planning parameters, including lab functional models, lab staffing, and detailed lab design for client meetings.Begin developing work relationships with team members and consultants to ensure an integrated project is on schedule and within budget.Begin to understand the principles of sustainable design. Incorporate those principles in all planning and design decisions.What you bring to this roleExperience:Minimum of three years of recent science planning experience with a focus on master planning, programming, and developing large complex laboratory facilities required.A broad base of experience with a focus in science and technology facilities for academic, bio-pharmaceutical, government, or process planning preferred.Projects completed with multiple clients ideal.Basic knowledge of codes, standards, and guidelines as related to labs, individual municipalities, State, IBC, ADA, ANSI, NFPA, NSF, cGMP, and cGLP.Software:Revit proficiency required.Previous experience with AutoCAD preferred.Education:Associates degree in architecture, engineering, planning or related field required; architectural degree preferred.Professional registration preferred.Sustainability accreditation preferred.Flad offers a wide range of benefits including:Hybrid work environmentHealth, dental, and vision insuranceGenerous paid time off and paid holidaysFinancial health and wellness benefits - retirement savings plan; fiduciary advisor; identity theft plan; Section 125 flexible benefits, including mass transit and parking; income protection – life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability; Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Continuing education and career development – internal programs; funds set aside for external programs, licensure and sustainability support, annual professional registration and organization reimbursementAnnual base salary range is currently: $95,000 - $120,000.
