The Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board is looking for a motivated person for the position of GATA/GATU Specialist.

Position Overview

The Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of GATA/GATU Unit Specialist. The ideal candidate for this position will have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be highly organized and great attention to detail, have well-honed supervisory skills, and be capable of multi-tasking to keep up with the demands of a busy and growing agency. ILETSB is conveniently located in Springfield with free parking on-site. Essential Functions

Serves as an agency Grant Accountability and Transparency Act (GATA) Grant Accountability and Transparency Unit (GATU) Specialist.Reviews, monitors, coordinates, and tracks grant applications to ensure compliance with GATA/GATU and other required statutes.Makes grant award determination recommendations based upon established criteria.Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the responsibilities enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years college with courses in business or public administration.Requires one (1) year of responsible administrative experience in public or business organization or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

Specialized Skills

One (1) year or more of practical experience using Amplifund or a similar grant management system.One (1) year or more of practical experience working with the principles of governmental accounting and statistics.One (1) year or more of practical experience in grants processing and application of GATA.One (1) year or more of professional experience exercising judgement and discretion in developing, implementing, and interpreting departmental policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

One (1) year or more of practical experience using Amplifund or a similar grant management system.One (1) year or more of practical experience working with the principles of governmental accounting and statistics.One (1) year or more of practical experience in grants processing and application of GATA.One (1) year or more of professional experience exercising judgement and discretion in developing, implementing, and interpreting departmental policies and procedures.

Conditions of Employment

Overtime is a condition of employment, and employee may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel & Internet applications.Requires ability to travel to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry-related topics relevant to job duties.This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
