Job Summary:
Reporting to the Chemistry Department Chair in the College of Science and Technology, the Business Manager has decision-making and problem-solving responsibility for all fiscal activity in the Chemistry Department. The Business Manager will be responsible for the design and implementation of a fiscalplanning and management system to forecast, prepare and monitor all budgets, grants and contracts. This responsibility will include the approval of all expenditures for 35 to 45 active accounts. The Business Manager will possess a high degree of financial accountability for all center accounts andmust be able to work within the fiscal system at Temple University, make responsible financial decisions and respond to all financial audit inquiries. Meets regularly with Chemistry Department Chair to review financial performance. Oversees department payroll, manages space and schedules Chemistry departmental meetings, provides oversight for the scheduling of classes, oversees process for visa applications, supervises staff and manages performance. Performs other duties as assigned.
This position requires a background check.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and at least three years of business and budget management experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Sklils & Abilities
:
Excellent financial management, accounting and data analysis skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse population of students, staff and faculty.Must be detail oriented.Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.Strong supervisory skills along with the ability to provide feedback and manage staff performance.
This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
