Fabricator Position Summary:
The fabricator is responsible for operating fabrication machines such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punches that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures.
Fabricator Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Operate Fab Shop and Machine Shop machinery and equipment.Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.Positions workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate the machine.Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.Measure workpiece dimensions to determine the accuracy of machine operation.Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from the workpiece as required.Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces.Perform related duties as assigned by supervision.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.Ability to regularly stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.Must be able to lift and/or move 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.Other duties as assignedFabricator Education and Experience:
High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalency Diploma)1+ year related experience or training in a similar role1+year experience in a manufacturing environmentFabricator Skills and/or Abilities:
Ability to read a tape measureAbility to accurately count parts and report numbersAbility to lift 50+lbs regularlyAbility to stay on taskAbility to work both alone or in a team environmentWillingness to work in other departments/areas to satisfy business needs
