Under general supervision of the Special Agent in Charge, the Special Agent Supervisor (SAS) is responsible for the both the planning, organizing, and conducting sensitive and complex internal affairs investigations and criminal investigations. The SAS is responsible for ensuring complete and comprehensive, as well as highly sensitive, investigations of candidates seeking positions within the Division of Law Enforcement (DLE). The SAS is responsible for providing assistance to all DLE Bureaus including the Bureau of Forensic Services, Bureau of Gambling Control, Bureau of Firearms, Los Angeles County Regional Criminal Information Clearinghouse, Western States Information Network, Bureau of Investigation, and Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse. Investigations of potential employees are completed in compliance with DLE General Order 01-13 and the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) guidelines.

Prior experience in an acting supervisory or supervisory position is desirable; familiarization with conducting complex and sensitive internal affairs investigations; an understanding of the Department's employee disciplinary process; familiarity with the Division's Policy and Procedure Manual and General Orders; knowledge of the Peace Officer's Bill of Rights, the Department's discrimination complaint process, the Department's employee misconduct complaint process, the Department's equal employment policies; excellent verbal and written communication skills; a high degree of integrity; and the ability to work independently.
