Data Center Operations Lead (with VMware expertise)Location: Albany, NY / Burlington VT ( Onsite)
We are seeking a versatile and experienced VMware and Windows Server Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing our VMware virtualization infrastructure and Windows Server environments, ensuring their stability, security, and optimal performance.
Responsibilities:
VMware Administration:
Deploy, configure, and manage VMware vSphere hosts and virtual machines (VMs).
Monitor performance and resource usage in VMware environments, optimizing configurations as needed.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VMware infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual networking.
Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions using VMware technologies.
Windows Server Administration:
Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems (including Windows Server 2016/2019) across physical and virtual environments.
Manage Active Directory services, including user and group management, group policies, and domain controllers.
Implement and maintain file and print services, DNS, DHCP, and other Windows Server roles and features.
Ensure Windows servers are patched, updated, and secured against security threats and vulnerabilities.
Infrastructure Monitoring and Management:
Monitor the health, performance, and availability of VMware and Windows Server environments using appropriate monitoring tools (e.g., vCenter Server, Microsoft System Center Operations Manager).
Proactively identify and address potential issues to prevent downtime and service disruptions.
Perform regular backups and ensure the integrity and recoverability of critical data and systems.
Security and Compliance:
Implement and enforce security best practices for both VMware and Windows Server environments, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Conduct security assessments and audits, remediate vulnerabilities, and respond to security incidents as needed.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate documentation of VMware and Windows Server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Generate reports on system performance, capacity, and compliance for management review.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
years of experience in VMware and Windows Server administration roles, with a strong understanding of virtualization and server technologies.
VMware certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV) are highly desirable.
Proficiency in managing Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
Experience with virtualization management tools such as VMware vCenter Server and Microsoft Hyper-V Manager.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
