JOB SUMMARY:

The DOF has a crucial role in overseeing and managing the overall financial operations of the organization. This executive leadership position requires a seasoned financial professional with a deep understanding of healthcare finance, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial management.

The DOF also requires hands-on skill and experience in performing medical billing operations and managing a billing department and will provide excellent customer service to residents and their families, addressing inquiries and concerns related to billing and financial matters.

This role involves managing financial personnel and financial records, medical billing and collections, related accounting, administrative, and reporting to ensure the facility operates efficiently, optimizes receivable collections, and complies with all regulatory requirements.

She or he will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Leadership Team to effectively manage the business of Ave Maria Home, Inc. and Affiliates and meet all requirements of the Business Office department.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s or advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or related field.

CPA or CMA (preferred).

Medical Billing and Coding experience (required).

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE : Minimum of 5 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with a significant portion in healthcare finance or related industries.

JOB KNOWLEDGE : In-depth knowledge of healthcare reimbursement models, regulatory requirements, and financial reporting standards.

Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and risk assessment.

Demonstrated experience in billing, collections, and revenue cycle processes.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.

Proficiency in financial software and technology platforms.

Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities and a thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures and regulatory financial compliance.

Excellent knowledge of using MS Excel and data mining tools to reveal and communicate positive, actionable financial information.

Must have finger and hand dexterity to handle and utilize equipment and records.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

:

Overall: - Set financial policy and direction while also being an active participant in, and driver of, the organization’s overall strategy. She or he will lead all financial administration, business planning, and budgeting. As a member of the senior leadership team, the DOF will work closely with the team, as well as assisting the CEO in communicating financial plans and results to the governing boards and board committees as well as other stakeholders as required.

Billing and Collections: - Daily cash reporting and monitoring and positive pay exception handling; reconcile all bank deposits to the cash receipts journal and input all patient ancillary charges prior to closing billing; close monthly billing within 10 days from the end of the month; post monthly billing and collections activity to the general ledger and reconcile aged accounts receivable reports to general ledger control accounts; ensure attendance at all manager and triple check meetings; assist residents and family members with billing questions; coordinate internal billing staff and external billing services.

Payroll and Benefits: - Backup Payroll Specialist to ensure payroll is processed properly each week; Assist the HR Director and Payroll Specialist in administering employee benefits timely and accurately; ensure that within 10 days from the end of the month all payroll activity is posted to the general ledger including weekly payrolls, payroll accruals and payroll reversals.

Audit and Regulatory Compliance: - Prepare PB&J reports for review and file with CMS after approval; Maintain Medicare log (100 day); Prepare all regulatory reports related to billing or payroll necessary to comply with local, state, and federal government requirements and tax filings; Work with staff as needed to prepare for various audits, regulatory reporting (including the JAR report and annual Cost Reports); Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with business office policies and procedures.

Technology and Process Improvement: - Identify opportunities to enhance billing and payroll/benefits financial systems, streamline processes, and improve efficiency; Participate in technology implementations to optimize financial operations.

Additional Director of Finance (DOF) duties assigned as necessary.

Will work indoors in a well-lighted and ventilated office area.
