Rockford Rescue Mission considers every position one of ministry and a vital part of our team. Therefore, it is essential that all staff of RRMM have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and subscribe to our Statement of Faith and Core Values. Additionally, staff must be willing to lead and/or participate in Bible study, prayer, devotions, chapel and sharing the Gospel.

The Donor Relations Specialist works to secure funds for the organization by managing a group of assigned and qualified donors, assuring that as many as possible are retained as continuing donors to the organization and are upgraded in their giving and involvement.

MONTHLY DONOR RELATIONS

Identify prospects as monthly donor members.Coordinate the monthly donor strategy.Communicate consistently with Chief Development Officer and Chief Executive Officer on all stewardship appropriate issues.Create and implement strategies that build relationships with current and prospective donors and grow the monthly donor program.Engage designated or prospective partners to develop genuine relationships. This is accomplished through natural life interactions such as written or e-correspondence, phone contacts, meals, home or business site visits and Mission functions. The goal is to discern the partners' passions for giving and satisfy those passions through timely, well-matched opportunities for advancing the ministry of the Mission.

MAJOR DONOR RELATIONS

Contribute to the leadership of the stewardship process including prospect research, communication, assignments, and any other activities required. Set and report weekly goals for a minimum number of contacts each week.Maintain all records necessary in Raiser's Edge database to successfully cultivate and satisfy partners' desires for advancing the ministry. It is essential that all conversations, mailings, visits, etc. be recorded to maintain adequate documentation of the "chain of relationship."Build relationships with assigned portfolio of individuals, corporations, and foundations.Work with Chief Development Officer to formulate, implement and monitor effective stewardship plans and strategies.

PLANNED GIVINGCoordinate planned giving calendar and strategies.Cultivate planned giving prospects.Communicate with Heritage Partners.Administer bequest gifts.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIESAs assigned, present - either alone or with other staff - public speaking opportunities to promote the Mission.Assign and assist Development team in thank you calls to donors.Coordinate thank you call and note strategy.Engage in stewardship training with Development staff.Achieve stability and enhancement of assigned donor relationships.Support Business, Church and Community relationships and collaborate with Chief Development Officer on strategy for cultivation.Perform related work and other duties when required and as assigned.Conduct tours as requested.

QUALIFICATIONSFour-year degree with a proven track record in development and public relationsHave knowledge about homelessness, rescue and funding environments on a local and national levelMust be of exemplary character displaying respect, accountability and professionalismServant leader who demonstrates faith, humility and unityComposed and professional demeanorEnthusiastic about Rockford Rescue Mission's purpose, vision and valuesSkilled and effective in written and verbal communicationsMust be teachable and function as a team playerAbility to plan a strategy for building and maintaining relationships with donors and engage them through givingMust be able to manage multiple tasks and work with deadlinesMust engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and off-site facilities. Must take an active part ensuring the safety, health and well-being of all Mission staff, volunteers and Mission guests.Willing to work weekends and evenings as necessary.
