Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Snowflake DBA to join our Data Engineering team. This role is integral to the success of our next-generation data warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Snowflake's technology, with a proven track record of optimizing query performance, throughput, and costs to support business objectives.

What you'll do:

Oversee the administration and management of our Snowflake data warehouse, ensuring its optimal performance, security, and reliability.

Design, implement, and monitor data management policies and procedures to ensure data security, accessibility, and availability.

Collaborate with data analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and implement solutions to meet these needs efficiently.

Conduct regular performance analysis of Snowflake usage & tuning to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Manage Snowflake security including roles, permissions, and access controls to protect sensitive data.

Lead data migration projects, including schema definitions, data warehousing, and ETL processes.

Keep abreast of new Snowflake features and technologies, advocating for and implementing upgrades and enhancements as appropriate.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior DBAs and other team members.

Develop and maintain documentation for database architectures, configurations, and processes.

What you'll bring:

Strong understanding of database design, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Expertise in SQL and experience with ETL tools and techniques.

Proficiency in data modeling and data architecture.

Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and how they integrate with Snowflake.

Excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to maintaining high-quality data standards.

Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Expertise with Oracle, SQL Server, and Postgres in addition to Snowflake.

Expertise with AWS specifically.

Expertise managing Snowflake SSO configuration and access policies.

Expertise managing Snowflake role hierarchies.

Up to date knowledge of Snowflake’s latest features.

Ideal education/experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a DBA, with at least 2 years focused on Snowflake.

This position will have an hourly rate of $128/hour. The successful candidate will be employed through Headway Workforce Solutions.
