District:Crystal Lake Community Consolidated School District #47 Crystal Lake School District 47 currently has an opening for a Speech-Language Pathologist with the Cross Categorical Program. The Speech-Language Pathologist will work in conjunction with the Cross Categorical classroom teacher to address curriculum concepts. Speech services are delivered within the classroom through an integrated model using both small and large group instruction as well as an individual basis as appropriate for meeting student needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Have knowledge of current speech/language pathology approaches and practicesHave the ability to plan program goals and designated outcomes for studentsHave the ability to implement strategies, activities and techniques for promoting quality student performance in communication and language developmentHave the ability to assess communication and language learning outcomes achieved by students using a variety of assessment procedures (i.e., formal and informal testing, observation, ongoing monitoring of performance)Possess the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and the community and outside agencies to better meet the needs of studentsPossess the ability to address the learning styles of studentsPossess the ability to work as a contributing team memberPossess the ability to assist with curriculum adaptations to meet the diverse needs of learnersPossess the ability to effectively contribute to an individual program plan for students with special needs
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator LicenseSpeech Language Pathologist EndorsementComprehensive understanding of school based Speech/Language therapyStrong understanding of data collection/monitoring of student progressPublic or private school experienceStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience serving young childrenEffective interpersonal skills and ability to work as a teamThe ability to evaluate and assess studentsUtilize appropriate assessment tools and techniquesPrepare initial evaluation and progress reports as requiredDesign and implement treatment plans, goals and clinical interventions
