Summary
The Property Accountant will be responsible for all accounting and financial matters related to assigned portfolio of properties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for properties
Prepare and maintain monthly journal entries
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations for properties
Monitor and report daily cash activity for management review
Responsible for annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations
Prepare and review annual property budgets and reforecasts
Coordinate with external auditors and provide requested information in a timely manner
Regularly collaborate with property management staff on property and tenant related matters
Process and review lease abstract information
Other ad-hoc projects as required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1 to 3 years previous accounting experience preferably in real estate or property management
Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
Strong attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals
Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Ability to possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Accounting or Business Degree
Work experience in real estate/property management
MRI Real Estate Software experience
