**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - ICU
**Job Specialty:** Float Pool
**Job Duration:** 13 Weeks
**Shift:** 7P-7A (12-hour Night Shifts)
**Guaranteed Hours:** 48 Hours
**Experience:** Minimum of 2 years required
**License:** Registered Nurse
**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
**Must-Have:**- Neuro and Trauma experience- Ventilator management- Critical care drips/titration- Cardiac rhythm interpretation- Measuring cardiac strips- Drains and chest tubes- Hemodynamic lines (art lines/CVP)- Stroke experience
**Job Description:**
- Work in a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 411 beds, though the number of beds may vary based on the unit.- Care for multispecialty critical care patients, including Medical, Surgical, Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Trauma, and Interventional areas.- Common diagnoses include but are not limited to Stroke, ICP monitoring, EVD Drains, spinal precautions, DKA, Sepsis, Multisystem trauma, COVID, STEMI, NSTEMI, and Heart failure.- Float Pool RNs may be required to float to ER Hold/Obs and care for MedSurg level patients as well as Stepdown units as needed.- Patient ratios typically are 1:2 based on acuity, potentially 1:3 as patients are downgraded. In the ED Hold/Obs area, ratios can be 1:4-5, depending on acuity.- Shared responsibilities with CNAs, Charge nurses, Phlebotomy, and Resource Nurses.- Access to 24/7 support from House Supervisors, RT, Hospitalists, Cardiovascular Surgeons and team, Intensivists, and support from OT, PT, ST staff.- Use technology and equipment such as Cerner EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and monitors.- This Float Pool position involves floating between all levels of care, including ED holds and PACU holds as needed.- Participate in hospital orientation and a tour of each floor led by the education department, followed by one shift of orientation before independent work.- Schedule includes weekend rotations and specific shift times with no on-call requirements or holiday RTO acceptance.- Professional scrub colors are required.
