Caruso Middle School, Deerfield, ILPosition Summary:We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Musical Director to lead our middle school musical production. This stipend position involves overseeing all aspects of the musical, from casting and rehearsals to final performances, with the goal of providing students a valuable, educational, and fun theatrical experience. The Musical Director will work collaboratively with students, parents, and school staff to bring a high-quality, memorable performance to life.Key Responsibilities:Directing and Coaching:

Lead and conduct auditions, rehearse musical numbers, provide vocal and performance coaching, and supervise overall performance preparation.Collaborating on Production Elements:

Work with choreographers, set designers, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded production.Program Management:

Develop rehearsal schedules, manage budgets for costumes, set pieces, and other production needs, and coordinate with parent volunteers.Student Engagement:

Inspire and support middle school students in developing their musical and performance abilities, fostering confidence and teamwork.Communication:

Maintain clear and regular communication with students, parents, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and performance information.Compliance and Safety:

Ensure all school policies and safety protocols are followed during rehearsals and performances.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in music, theater, or a related field (preferred).Experience in directing or assisting in musical theater productions, particularly with middle school students.Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple aspects of production and meet deadlines.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with students and parents.Passionate about creating a supportive, inclusive, and positive environment for students.Time Commitment:This is a stipend position that requires after-school, evening, and some weekend hours during the rehearsal period and performance week.
