Job OverviewA prominent law firm in San Jose is seeking an experienced and dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an attorney with a passion for immigration law to work on a wide variety of cases, including removal defense, family-based immigration petitions, and other USCIS applications. The ideal candidate will have a collaborative mindset, a strong commitment to client service, and the ability to manage a caseload while delivering strategic legal solutions.DutiesProvide clear explanations of immigration law and present strategic solutions tailored to each client’s needsRepresent clients in immigration court, including non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedingsManage a diverse caseload of immigration cases, ensuring all deadlines and client needs are metConduct intake interviews and represent detained clients at immigration detention centersPrepare and submit a variety of immigration applications, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and naturalization applicationsReview and amend immigration petitions and documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standardsCollaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations regarding updates to immigration lawMeet with potential clients for consultations to assess case strategies and outline the best course of actionDevelop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for hearings or USCIS interviewsDraft and file legal briefs in support of various immigration casesRequirementsMinimum of 1-4 years of experience practicing immigration lawProven ability to manage and prioritize a diverse caseloadStrong legal analysis and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and external partiesTeam-oriented with a collaborative mindsetBilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferredFamiliarity with case management software is a plusEducationJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law schoolAdmission to the State BarSkillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficientlyDetail-oriented with a focus on accuracyClient-centered approach with a focus on providing exceptional legal servicesExperience with various immigration forms and petitions, including EOIR and USCISJob LocationSan Jose, CAComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off (PTO)Complimentary parkingRegular catered lunchesSupport for professional development and career advancementA welcoming, diverse, and inclusive work environment
