POSITION SUMMARY:The Sr. Tax Analyst is responsible for providing support on sales and use tax and Vertex system, providing support on income tax, supporting third party compliance providers, and assisting with audit defense. This position will also assist with various tax projects and initiatives and oversee the full sales tax process.RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:Provide support on sales and use tax and Vertex systemAssist with maintenance, configuration, troubleshooting, and continued enhancement for sales and purchases in Vertex OAssist with tax certificate review and setupAnalyze, research, and resolve tax treatment of various transactions/itemsProvide support on income taxAssist with income tax provision including ASC740 positions, depletion calculations, and transfer pricing studiesAssist with tax research and planningSupport third party compliance providersProvide supporting documentation for outsourced tax compliance providers-income, sales and use, and property taxRespond to tax noticesProcess tax paymentsAudit DefenseProvide support for tax auditsGather information requested by auditorsAnalyze data, research issues, and recommend positionsDraft responses to auditorsATTRIBUTES:Experience in either sales taxVertex experienceSAP Experience preferredStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work in a team environment where attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills are essentialProven ability to manage workload independently, be self-motivated, work in a deadline-driven environment, and handle multiple projects simultaneouslyProficiency with tax research tool such as CCHIntermediate-strong Excel skills, technically proficient in office software, and excellent communication skillsTax experience in a manufacturing environment a plusPHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:Must be physically able to perform work assigned.Must be physically capable of accessing all plant/site locations.Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 200 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.Will be working in an office environment, mining, and mineral processing environment.The employee may be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.Able to lift up to 50 pounds.Must be able to travel up to XX% as needed or directed by leadership.REQUIRED EDUCATION:B.S.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:4+ years tax experienceLhoist North America offers a very competitive salary package that includes but is not limited to comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, vacation, and disability insurance.
