Position Overview:

Prepares accurate and complete photovoltaic solar designs in AutoCAD for new build multi-home communities across various states and jurisdictions utilizing information provided by templates and permit sets. Creates 3D models and shade simulations of solar projects using Aurora.

Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Draws highly accurate and code compliant PV system designs for single and multi-family new build homes.

Works within pre-determined templates to generate new build PV permit packages.

Receives guidance on design interpretation related to layout specifications and procedures.

Uses knowledge of residential solar PV system design to complete drawings.

Uses AutoCAD LT (CAD) for PV system designs. Also uses Aurora software to model shading.

After review by designated team member, makes any adjustments as necessary.

Participates in review of design work completed by other team members once prepared by team leads.

Maintains project standards, conventions, and quality.

Utilizes in-house project management software to maintain workflow and communication (Salesforce).

Effectively and respectfully communicates to team members in Microsoft Teams.

Other duties as assigned.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Proficient with AutoCAD LT.

General construction understanding including ability to read electrical and structural plans.

1-3 years' experience with residential PV system design or residential electrical design.

Understanding of NEC 690 and residential building standards.

Effective communication skills with regards to team interactions, project timelines and resource requirements.

Comfortable in high-volume, metrics-driven atmosphere.

Must be willing and able to review others' work and accept revisions to their own work product.

Non-essential (Valued but not required skills & experience):

Desire to grow knowledge and skills within job responsibilities.

Team-player mindset.

Vocational school graduation or certificate in CAD.

Proficient with 3D modeling Aurora.

Knowledge of jurisdictional requirements for PV system design.

NAPCEP certification.

Primary positions interacting with this position:

Residential Design Team, BNC Project Managers.
