Job Description:
Addison Group is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a large non-profit with a national presence in Washington, DC. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers a competitive hourly rate with benefits and the potential for long-term career growth.
As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will play a crucial role in processing accounts payable transactions, ensuring the accurate and timely payment of invoices, and maintaining financial records in compliance with accounting policies and procedures. You will also assist with month-end close processes and collaborate with various departments to support budgeting and financial planning.
Responsibilities:
Process accounts payable transactions, including coding and entering invoices into the accounting system.
Review and verify invoices for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Ensure timely and accurate payment to vendors and resolve any discrepancies.
Reconcile vendor statements and ensure outstanding invoices are properly tracked and processed.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
Maintain accurate financial records and assist with audits.
Work closely with other departments to ensure efficient processing of financial data.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
1-2 years of accounts payable experience, preferably in nonprofit accounting.
Experience with accounting software (NetSuite is a plus).
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general accounting principles.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with different teams.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
