Job Summary:
We are seeking an ambitious Director of Sales in a customer-facing role responsible for account ownership with our customer and overseeing the day-to-day functionality of our National Account Managers on our team and Third Party Sales Representatives by developing customer-centric strategies to elevate our business and achieve sales goals. Additionally, this role will interact and communicate effectively with key decision influencers internally and externally.
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or related field from an accredited university
A minimum of 7 years prior experience in a sales account management position
A minimum of 4 years of prior supervisor experience of sales professionals
Experience working with Customer systems/processes
Home center, mass merchandising, Co-Op, or independent hardware experience
Experience with consumer products industry (CPG)
Additional Qualifications:
Strong analytical skills and ability to distill actionable insights from data.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to influence senior management and work effectively with all departments
Excellent negotiation, organizational and planning skills
Strong financial acumen
An effective team player with leadership ability—able to listen effectively.
Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
Advanced PowerPoint skills ability to build effective presentations
Positive attitude, high energy level and bias for action
Ability to work in fast-paced environment
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Exceed sales goals by aggressively identifying new business opportunities and new customers
Oversees the day-to-day business with key customer(s) merchants/assistant merchants and other applicable team members
Forecast and analyze shipments and POS by SKU and by month
Develops and effectively sells and gains support for annual account listings, programs, promotional plans and annual merchandising agreements
Works cross-functionally to ensure customer and internal business objectives are met
Partners with Supply Chain to drive enhanced service levels
Works with Marketing on category and new item penetration and initiatives; as well as advertising and media programs
Works with Finance and Business Operations to budget and effectively spend trade funds
Mentors Business Development managers by providing goals and initiatives
Supports and collaborates with Field Sales Team to ensure objectives are met
Provides ROI analysis and communicates efficiencies, results, and impact to the business
Plans and executes yearly customer promotional and in-store programs and events
Prepares and presents category line reviews
All other duties as assigned
Travel Requirements:
This role requires approximately 25-30% travel with some overnights expected. There will be compensation for travel according to company policy.
