Dean of the School for Humanities, Arts and Sciences . The Dean is a central advocate for a rigorous liberal arts and sciences curriculum at a Minority Serving Institution (MSI), rooted in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition with a commitment to women’s education and leadership. The Dean provides strategic vision, leadership, and management for the School of Humanities, Arts, and Sciences (SHAS), which houses a wide array of academic programs at the graduate, associates, and bachelors levels, along with the Core Curriculum for undergraduates. The Dean fosters the success of our academic programs and students, ensuring quality using evidence-based practices, identifying and cultivating relationships with external partners, generating new resources through fundraising and grants, mentoring faculty and staff, ensuring an outstanding student experience, and managing the overall budget of SHAS to achieve the best outcomes for students.Responsibilities:Enhance the Student Experience:
The Dean is expected to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to improving equitable student outcomes and promoting a welcoming and inclusive climate that values diversity and equity in student learning. Attention to the overall student experience is essential and will aid in recruitment and retention efforts.Strengthen Faculty Excellence:
The Dean must help enrich a culture of excellent teaching, scholarship, service, and professional work. Leadership in the recruitment of faculty and staff to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion commitments is essential.Promote Academic Quality and Innovation:
The Dean will collaborate with faculty to ensure ongoing quality and innovation in SHAS’s academic programs as well as the Core Curriculum.Ensure Strong Financial Management and Build Resources:
The Dean will need the fiscal acumen to enable strong financial management across all areas of the school’s academic and administrative programs.Minimum Qualifications:Ph.D. in a discipline within the School for Humanities, Arts and SciencesRecord of successful college teaching experience and serviceStrong record of academic achievement in teaching, scholarship, and research/creative activity that warrants appointment to at least the level of Associate ProfessorProgressively responsible academic administrative experienceProven track record of collaboration, innovation, and forward thinkingStrong record of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the curriculumDemonstrated organizational and administrative expertise, including budgeting and fiscal reportingProven leadership in collaborative initiatives and innovative partnershipsManagement expertise, including employee oversight and the ability to motivate a highly effective workforceOutstanding ability to build positive relationships with a wide variety of individuals and organizationsPreferred Qualifications:Strong record of successful college teaching experience, service, scholarship, research, and/or creative activity that warrants appointment to the level of ProfessorWe seek creative, adaptable staff who enjoy working in a university climate that promotes cultural diversity, multicultural understanding, and cultural fluency.
