JOB DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The House Manager is responsible for front-of-house operations of the theater. Work is performed under the general direction of the Performing Arts Coordinator.
EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Note: These examples are intended merely as illustrations of the various types of work performed.)
Oversees the management and accounting of box office operations. Trains, schedules, and supervises ushers, greeters, hospitality, coat check, and concession employees. Ensures proper ADA accommodations are met in the facility. Coordinates proper set-up and clean-up for performances, events, and activities. Must be available to work evenings and weekends. Responsible for the delivery of high-quality customer service by all theater staff. Performs other assigned duties as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
High school graduate or GED required. Ability to perform manual lifting and loading of program supplies and equipment. Must earn CPR and First Aid certifications within 60 days of employment. Possess an understanding of Techniques of Alcohol Management (TAM) within 60 days of employment. Proficient in the use of computers (box office operations, ticketing, concessions, and scheduling). Ability to multitask and prioritize. Prior customer service experience required. Supervisory experience required. Ability to handle money accurately, conscientiously and honestly. Must be able to climb stairs to usher patrons to seats and walk the theater catwalk. Must be able to assist handicapped or injured patrons. Demonstrated interest in theater and art programs, supplemented by continuing education or completion of specialized training preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history that does not create liability concerns, including, but not limited to, convictions for reckless driving, careless driving, suspended license, or convictions involving drinking and impaired driving. Ability to work a wide variety of shifts, including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays. This is an "At-Will" position: Work assignments and hours are scheduled based on availability, division requirements and within the confines of the budget. Schedules and work hours are not guaranteed and are subject to change at any time due to division needs, budgeting constraints and staff availability
