Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is looking for a Systems Analyst for a position with its IT Services Administration.

This position is open to current DMV employees only.

The System Analyst will manage, define, develop and maintain application software supporting DMV's mission with the objective of creating new functions, maintaining performance and accuracy levels, supporting traditional customer-based activity and additional interfaces as required; e.g. MySelect, Internet/Intranet/Extranet, inter-agency systems and national systems and ensure the integrity and security of main processor software as the repository for DMV's automated business records and critical business functions.

The System Analyst will lead and manage projects with responsibility for technical and functional development from definition through the conceptual model, detailed design, testing and implementation stages. The incumbent will interact with management, users and technical staff to ensure effective and satisfactory product(s), serve on project teams as needed, have a solid understanding of security policies, and secure and efficient coding practices.

Minimum Qualifications•Demonstrated and extensive experience with and knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle.•Demonstrated and extensive experience performing complex systems analysis, evaluating work processes for automation and computer systems for efficiency and modification.•Demonstrated and extensive experience defining the impact of systems designs, writing detailed program specifications, solving computer processing problems, and identifying and correcting errors in computer programs.•Demonstrated and extensive experience managing projects and leading the work of others.•Demonstrated and extensive experience in testing methods and test data creation.•Demonstrated and extensive experience with web-based technologies and relational databases.•Demonstrated and extensive experience communicating with both technical and non-technical personnel and establish effective working relationships with all levels of personnel within and outside the agency.•PM/BA Certification, if working to get certified, it should be completed within 2025.
