GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Responsible for the management and coordination of the university cash management and adhere to the debt and tax compliance requirements of various governmental agencies. This position will provide supervision and direction for the banking functions, perform various accounting and audit functions and coordinate the debt and tax compliance and related submissions.
COMMUNICATIONS
Communicate effectively within Controller's Office as well as other departments, external parties, banks, investment managers and auditors.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Provides guidelines to office staff and answer other departments inquiries, investigate and resolve their issues.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance. Graduate degree preferred. Minimum five years management experience in not-for-profit/higher education accounting.
Knowledge & Skills
Extensive knowledge and experience in not-for-profit and higher education accounting. Experienced in automated computer systems and spreadsheet applications. Supervisory skills and ability to plan and direct a complex financial environment. Ability to communicate complex accounting and financial principals effectively to a diverse audience.
SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY
Will supervise 3 accountants
Physical Environment and Requirements
80% computer 20% telephone
Certifications and Licenses
List any certifications or licenses that are either required or helpful in performing the job, designating whether required or preferred.
CPA a plus
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibility
Manages and directs the Cash Management activities for the university. Responsible for the daily, monthly and annual creation of Cash Management reports and analysis for the AVP Finance/Controller and Chief Financial Officer. Ensure all wire transfers are processed timely and accurately.
Percentage Of Time 30
Key Responsibility
Provides guidance, expertise and recommendations on payroll and other tax rulings. Review, prepare and submit all tax related compliance and forms for IRS and State agencies including: Form 990, Form 990T, State Tax Returns, State Sales Returns, Form1099, Form 1042s, and Non Resident Aliens.
Percentage Of Time 20
Key Responsibility
Monitor payroll clearing account reconciliation; makes sure taxes, pensions and other benefit payments are paid correctly and timely, including unemployment and workers compensation.
Percentage Of Time 15
Key Responsibility
Leads the non-student billing activities for the university including ensuring billing is timely and accurate, invoices are paid on time and accounts receivable balances are monitored and maintained within acceptable parameters.
Percentage Of Time 10
Key Responsibility
Assist with annual financial audit and coordinate the university's deferred annuity plan audit
Percentage Of Time 10
Key Responsibility
Ensures university line of credit is maintained within university policy. Also ensures debt compliance requirements are adhered to and submitted timely.

Other duties as assigned.
