The ideal candidate should have 2-4 years' experience working in accounting and preferably be Certified Public Accounting (CPA). Qualified candidates must be able to prepare and post journal entries, cash disbursements, cash receipts, bank reconciliations, prepare monthly annual financial statements and prepare balance sheet reconciliation and monthly schedules. This is a full-time position is based out of our Jackson, WI facility with core hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm Mon- Fri.What you will be doing:You will be responsible for all aspects of month-end closing. The GL Accountant ensures completeness and accuracy of financial statements and related accounting activities. The GL Accountant ensures completeness and accuracy of financial statements and related accounting activities. Duties may include but are not limited to preparing and posting journal entries, cash disbursements, cash receipts, bank reconciliations, preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, balance sheet reconciliation and monthly schedules.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Entering financial data such as accruals, deferrals, reclassifications & interdepartmental entries into the ledger on a monthly basis, as well as preparing reports.Performing account analysis to ensure that journal entries and balances are correct.Reconciling accounts with the general ledger.Gathering supporting documentation and performing recordkeeping.Performing audits on financial data to ensure accuracyCollaborating with internal departments to gather, analyze & interpret relevant financial information.Ensure proper accounting policies and principles are followed in accordance with GAAPFlexible to meet changing priorities and the ability to prioritize workload to achieve on time accurate results.Provide back up support to FPA, reporting, tax, and operations as needed.Detail orientated, self-directed and able to effectively complete tasks with minimal supervision.REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:Demonstrated understanding of construction accounting procedures.Knowledge and working experience with Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.Experience working with individuals at all levels of the organization while demonstrating professional communication skills (written and verbal) including attention to detail and accuracy.Strong organizational and analytical skills with proven ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and manage multiple diverse projects.Superb judgment and integrity, including excellent decision making skills and a bias to action.Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.Effective time management skills.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Substantial contact with others. Contacts usually involve discussions related to policies and programs and may include proposal, negotiation, solicitation, etc. Handles sensitive, complex, and/or confidential information.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Public Accounting (CPA) or CPA candidate preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.This position is in an office environment where the noise level is moderate.
