Deposit Operations Specialist

The role's primary responsibilities will be to implement, maintain, and leverage the systems and processes that support the credit union's deposit account offerings through digital channels. The role will also serve as the administrator and subject matter expert of the escheatment process and the credit union's IRA and HSA account portfolio. Other functions include but are not limited to, the following tasks: online account opening, deposit product testing, processing payments including dispute and fraud resolution, providing digital support, project management, providing support to staff through all channels, providing back-up support for E-Commerce, and advising the E-Commerce Manager and Supervisor as needed. While working on any role-related task, it will be incumbent upon the employee to assess the risks for potential fraud, identify red flags, and mitigate and/or report incidents quickly.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Administer, maintain, and provide support for Escheats, IRA and HSA accounts and the systems used to manage them. This will include staying informed of any changes in the laws and regulations pertaining to them in order to maintain compliance while successfully serving the needs of the membership.
Administer, maintain, and provide support for the online account opening process and systems; this also includes processing membership and account applications coming through the digital channels in a timely manner while assessing the risks for potential fraud and identifying other red flags.
Process payments; this includes ACH, inclearing items, lockbox items, debit card and credit card transactions, ATM and mobile deposits, wire transfers, and reconciliation adjustments.
Assist frontline and other department staff with questions and issues around deposit products, digital channels, and payments; this may involve working directly with the member occasionally. Work with E-Commerce Manager, E-Commerce Supervisor, and Learning department by continually examining processes and procedures and making suggestions for updates/changes as needed.
Oversee vendor technology upgrades and solutions to ensure that PACU has implemented the most up-to-date security measures available and that the credit union's service offerings align with strategic goals. Responsible for additional vendor oversight for all vendors associated with primary job-related functions.
Cross-train and provide back-up support for the various E-Commerce functions. Seize opportunities that support developmental goals and exhibit a degree of leadership that's productive to the team and organization.
Exhibit a high level of presence and availability for the credit union by arriving to work as scheduled, keeping unscheduled absences to a minimum, and adhering to our culture of Simply Service when assisting internal and external members.
Education, Training, Abilities & Experience:
Three to five years of similar or related experience.
A two-year college degree, completion of a specialized certification or licensing, completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Also requires a working understanding of technology and how it can be used to deliver credit union services. Requires experience and understanding of all financial institution electronic products and services. Basic Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
