Assist in the analysis and underwriting of new commercial mortgage loan opportunities, equity investments, and other commercial real estate and mortgage-related investments. Monitor and track the commercial mortgage loan production process and data quality. Evaluate the credit quality of new commercial mortgage loans.
What you will do
* Prepare credit presentations under the guidance and direction of underwriters, senior underwriters, and the Vice President of Credit Risk Management. Credit presentations detail new commercial mortgage loan opportunities with recommendations supported by the specifics of the real estate securing the loan, the property's income characteristics, market and submarket analysis, and the economics of the transaction.* Perform property inspections, compile market analysis, rent and sales comparable analysis, major tenant analysis, borrower analysis, and lease reviews in support of Underwriter credit presentations.* Review and summarize appraisals, property condition reports, environmental reports, leases, rent rolls, operating statements, borrower organizational documents, tenant and borrower financial statements to highlight potential risks regarding new commercial mortgage loan investments.* Work with VP of Credit Risk Management in interactions with closers and RGA's internal and external legal counsel to ensure that loans meet regulatory requirements and are closed as approved.* Work with underwriters and closers to maintain loan production data regarding loans in process as well as yield and credit characteristics for reporting to the VP of Real Estate Credit Risk Management and other members of the investments management team.* Assist in the development of appropriate loan ratings based on the credit characteristics of each new loan in support of evaluating loans for potential losses and determining an appropriate market value.* Track performance of real estate equity joint ventures as required by management.* Perform data entry and quality control reviews of mortgage loan data housed in RGA's Loan Management System. Work with underwriters, closers, and servicing staff to ensure that data correctly reflects the underwriting characteristics of each new loan.* Produce and maintain loan production reports, working with the information technology department as necessary.* Assist VP Portfolio Management in evaluating the credit quality of commercial mortgage loan portfolios under consideration for purchase in relation to the acquisition of future reinsurance business for RGA.* Maintains regular and predictable attendance.* Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
* Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance or equivalent experience* Progress towards the CFA, MAI, CCIM or related professional designation* 3-5 years real estate or other investment-related experience
Preferred:
* Masters in Business Administration, Real Estate, or Finance* CFA or CCIM* Prior experience analyzing CMBS or other Real-Estate related structured securities* Prior experience managing in investment management for insurance client assets
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required:
* Intermediate Microsoft Office skills* Understanding of Commercial Real Estate investments* Understanding of asset / liability management for insurance products* Intermediate skill in the use of investment analysis tools as well as personal computer tools including spreadsheets and word processing tools* Knowledge of broad business practices* Ability to participate in the implementation of change within an organization, ensuring understanding, participation, and ownership* Oral and written communication skills including presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to convey information in a way that is meaningful and well received by stakeholders and team members* Ability to adapt new methods; work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions* Skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously* Ability to make timely and effective decisions and produce results* Ability to implement organizational, divisional and/or departmental vision and goals that result in achievement and success through collaboration, creative thinking, maintaining focus, and persistence, even under adversity, while maintaining the confidence of associates and customers* Ability to work well within a team* Ability to foster teamwork in a customer service focused environment* Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines* Persuasion and negotiation skills when working with internal/external customers to resolve issues/problems

Compensation Range:
$84,860.00 - $128,110.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
