The Investment Solutions team develops, recommends and executes liability driven investment strategy, including portfolio construction and repositioning to support the acquisition of new reinsurance business. These strategies and associated portfolios must meet business needs (sufficient return on capital, regular investment income), while considering RGA's appetite for investment risk, execution risks, and asset-liability matching. The Vice President, Senior Portfolio Manager acts as a "deal lead", taking full responsibility for RGA Investments' approach to transactions led.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Craft target portfolio strategy for a given opportunity to deliver exceptional risk-adjusted return for the transaction in partnership with Portfolio Management

• Work with Credit team to determine best path to execution, including analysis of the client's existing portfolio and the creation of a target portfolio given the portfolio strategy

• Communicate the target portfolio strategy to various interested parties within RGA, including the C-suite, and to gain approval for the target strategy

• Negotiate investment guidelines and treaty terms with clients to deliver the flexibility necessary to manage asset risk and generate target return

• Lead efforts to close the asset side of the transaction, including operational aspects of receiving the client portfolio

• Direct the reposition required to move from the client's portfolio strategy to RGA's target strategy

• Suggest, review, and informs new tools and frameworks to improve new business pricing process

• Develop relationships and strategic alliances with external contacts and internal cross-functional areas

• Manage and train portfolio managers and/or analysts as direct reports

• Perform other duties as assigned

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Required:

• MBA graduate and 10+ years relevant work experience or Bachelor's degree in Economics/Finance related field with 15+ years relevant work experience

Preferred:

• CFA, Masters, ASA, FSA, or CAIA

• 5+ years corporate credit experience

• 5+ years of experience in pricing or ALM analysis of life and annuity blocks

• 10+ years fixed income management experience in an insurance client environment

Skills and Abilities

Required:

• Highly advanced investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills

• Highly advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel

• Highly advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge

• Expert understanding of investment/market concepts, especially in the context of insurance asset management

• Highly advanced knowledge of asset liability management

• Expert knowledge of portfolio and fixed income analytics (i.e. sector weightings, portfolio duration, performance attribution, convexity and term structure of interest rates)

• Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously

• Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects

• Highly advanced negotiation skills to assist with internal/external discussions

• Highly advanced customer relationship management and change management skills

• Ability to train and manage portfolio managers and/or analysts

Preferred:

• Demonstrable track record of the successful implementation of investment strategies, especially in an insurance or reinsurance context

Compensation Range:$171,220.00 - $254,960.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
