Senior Legal Counsel

Summary:
This role is responsible for providing legal advice, drafting legal documents, resolving legal disputes, and managing the compliance system. The Senior Legal Counsel will work closely with the business teams to ensure that all legal matters are handled in a timely, efficient, and appropriate manner.
Responsibilities:
Advise and provide counselling in a variety of legal and compliance topics.
Provide legal and compliance training to everyone in the organization.
Review company policies and practices on a regular basis to ensure that all are in compliance.
Provide oversight, direction, and maintenance of the compliance program.
Conduct risk assessments and general reports for compliance meetings.
Prepare for the possibility of audits and investigations by developing strategies, maintaining records, and designing procedures.
Prepare, review, and negotiate company contracts and other legal documents.
Generate accurate work product quickly as requested.
Manage outside counsel relationships, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required.
Qualifications:
Law degree from an accredited law school or equivalent, relevant experience.
Licensed to practice law in the state of Georgia.
Licensed to practice law in additional states preferred.
Experience with and exposure to corporate compliance, labor & employment issues, and safety & environmental issues.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures.
Excellent analytical, communication, research, and writing skills.
High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
Excellent business and legal judgment, as well as a superior ability to assess risk and determine priorities based on that risk assessment and the needs of the business.
Effectively organize and manage independent caseloads presenting multiple simultaneous priorities.
Strong negotiation and communication skills (both oral and written). Ability to communicate legal issues in a clear and understandable manner. Inspires trust and confidence through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
At least 7+ years of legal experience.
Law firm or global in-house counsel legal department work experience preferred.
Experience practicing law in engineering, automotive supply, or similar fields preferred.
