This role will provide critical support to the firm’s co-General Counsel, overseeing professional responsibility and ethics compliance, reviewing conflicts of interest, and ensuring adherence to both internal policies and external regulatory standards. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of the firm’s operations and fostering a culture of accountability and ethical conduct.Duties:Review and approve new business intake processes, identifying potential professional responsibility and liability issues.Ensure compliance with the applicable Rules of Professional Conduct, both at the state and federal levels.Stay current on the American Bar Association’s Model Rules of Professional Conduct and jurisdictional differences in ethical standards.Evaluate conflict screening reports, identify potential ethical issues, and propose solutions for resolution.Collaborate with attorneys to resolve conflicts and draft or review conflict waivers as needed.Assist in the preparation and review of engagement letters for new clients and matters.Analyze the work histories of potential new hires to identify and resolve conflict issues.Review outside counsel guidelines and requests for proposals.Assist with responses to subpoenas and document production in coordination with the co-General Counsel.Undertake additional professional responsibility tasks as assigned by the co-General Counsel.Requirements:Minimum 3 years of experience in a law practice or legal position focused on professional responsibility and ethics.Experience in a large law firm, particularly with litigation matters, is preferred.Authorized to practice law in one of the jurisdictions where the firm operates.Strong understanding of the Rules of Professional Conduct and ethical issues within a legal environment.Ability to evaluate complex legal and ethical issues and provide practical solutions.Education:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Certifications:Admission to the State Bar in CA.Skills:Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Detail-oriented with a capacity to work independently.Proficient in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Ability to navigate complex ethical challenges with discretion and professionalism.
