Director Mission Assurance 1

based out of

Sunnyvale, CA.

The Mission Assurance Director reports to the Vice-President of Quality and Mission Assurance with additional reporting responsibilities to the Vice-President Marine Systems.

The Mission Assurance (MA) Director is responsible for establishing and leading the Quality & Mission Assurance (QMA) function for Marine Systems; a key element of the Maritime/Land Systems & Sensors Division (MLSS) within the Mission Systems sector. Marine Systems designs, builds, tests, and supports Propulsion & Power Generation equipment and Missile Launching and Handling equipment for the US Navy. As a key leader, partner and essential member of the Marine Systems leadership team, the MA Director will lead a large, high performing QMA team responsible for facilitating a continuous improvement culture focused on increasing affordability, technology insertion, process effectiveness and efficiency. Additional responsibilities include executing, monitoring and reporting on the health and quality of the various systems, products and services.

Defines and monitors program specifications, quality metrics, audit metrics and processes to ensure mission success.

Promotes the professional development of the Quality & Mission Assurance workforce and fosters a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement.

Maintains the highest level of commitment to quality, compliance and internal controls in adherence to company values and ethics.

Provides clear assignments, helps employees connect their efforts to the organization’s strategy, creates an inclusive work environment characterized by mutual respect and the valuing of differences, and builds a culture that motivates employees to their highest levels of performance.

Assures compliance policies and procedures are strictly adhered to across all functions and all phases of the program life cycle.

Leverages comprehensive metrics, customer and employee feedback to assess program performance and risks and determines resources to ensure mission success.

Develops and manages budgets, schedules, and performance standards.

Responsible for the preparation of proposals for the Quality & Mission Assurance team.

Frequent interface with executives and customer representatives including on-site DCMA representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, and contractual clarifications.

Thought leader influencing and impacting strategy for the program and Quality & Mission Assurance organization while also driving innovative change.

Responsible for developing and implementing Capital Equipment, NCTA, and MTA plans for the department.

Regularly requires analysis of alternative courses of action for continued program quality.

Basic Qualifications for Director Mission Assurance 1:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field.

A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, with experience in Quality/Quality Management.

A minimum of 5 years of functional management and leadership experience.

Experience with technical and project management.

Earned Value Management experience.

Experience in one or more of the following areas: program/product lifecycle in the areas of new business pursuit, design, software, supply chain management, receiving operations, inventory control, production control, product test & evaluation, reliability, root cause analysis, product sell off, shipping and product support as they apply to quality.

The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required.

US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications for Director Mission Assurance 1:

Familiarity with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System certification process.

Knowledge of Naval specifications such as sub-safe and T9001B.

Master’s degree in engineering or technical field.

Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) certification to drive continuous improvement.

Familiarity with SAP, a plus with Quality & Mission Assurance transactions.

An active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to acquire a Top Secret clearance.

Salary Range:

$190,600.00 - $286,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
