Job Description POSITION TITLE: SEC Reporting Associate POSITION PURPOSE: The SEC Financial Reporting Associate takes a role to prepare and analyze monthly reporting packages from domestic and international business units to ensure compliance with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), and support internal and external financial reporting. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Participate in the financial reporting process and coordination of various departments, domestic and internationally, to support quarterly and annual Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting requirements and earnings releases. Prepare the 10-Q and 10-K filing on Wdesk. Review disclosures, SEC/USGAAP compliance questionnaires, to ensure compliance with GUESS? policies as well as external reporting requirements. Create and update global accounting policies and practices manual. Provide training and communication of global accounting policies to domestic and international users to ensure consistency of application. Conduct technical research and implement new accounting pronouncements by working closely with internal teams and external auditors. Ensure compliance with Financial Reporting Internal Controls. Coordinate Financial Reporting relationships with external and internal audits, including timing of documentation requests. Monitor fieldwork progress and ensure timely completion of all follow-up items with other internal departments. Analyze non-routine transactions and direct the research and documentation of accounting treatments, including implementation of new standards globally. Assist with the preparation of monthly flash results during monthly close process. Develop, maintain and coordinate monthly reporting packages from international business units and financial reporting calendar deadlines. Assist with the monitoring of balance sheet reserves Annual Reserves (AR) and Inventory reserves), consolidated Days On Hand/Days Sales Outstanding (DOH/DSO) calculations. Review store impairment analyses and scenarios. Review lease accounting to ensure compliance with USGAAP. Proactively identify reporting performance challenges and facilitate the development and execution of improvements. Prepare and review various non-routine/judgmental accounting areas such as impairments, reserves, hedging, lease accounting. Perform Ad hoc technical research and other projects as required. Proactively drive system, technology and efficiency initiatives relating to reporting.
