Summary About the Position: The U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command, headquartered in North Chicago, IL, is a jointly staffed command, staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 66 military processing locations (Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS)/Remote Processing Stations (RPS), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services. This will be filled on a permanent basis. Responsibilities Coordinate conferences with stakeholders (e.g., assisting with location, schedule, agenda, and the assembling of appropriate material used for presentations). Create various outputs (e.g., letters, reports, tabulated data, memoranda, spreadsheets, graphs and valuable briefings) in rough draft and final form. Provide administrative/clerical work for the Operations Directorate. Provide management analysis support for the Department of Defense (DoD) Accession Program. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Telework eligible position - Position has an official duty location of North Chicago, IL and is eligible for Situational Telework at the discretion of the Command. This position is NOT eligible for remote work (remote duty location). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Experience for GS-06: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Performing administrative work (i.e., typing, filing, receiving, and routing telephone calls and mail, etc.) in an office setting; Utilizing Microsoft Office to manage calendars, schedule meetings and prepare/edit documents (e.g. correspondence, spreadsheets, graphs, charts, etc.) for the office; Coordinating meetings and/or conferences including schedules, agenda, and timelines; Following up on suspenses/due dates to ensure timely responses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-5). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify for this position, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Clerical Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Organizational Awareness Technology Application Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
