Join Point Solutions Group's Federal Service Team providing engineering support to NAVWAR in the San Diego area. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Automation Engineer to join our team in support of the CANES network. This role is crucial for the deployment and automation of large-scale systems within a military ship network environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about automation, particularly using Ansible, and will have the technical expertise to ensure high reliability and efficiency in deployment processes. Key Responsibilities: Develop and enhance automation scripts and tools to streamline system deployment processes. Work closely with the engineering team to ensure deployments are resistant, reliable, and production-ready, achieving a reliability rate of 98-99%. Create repeatable Ansible playbooks to hand off to customers, enabling them to perform deployments independently. Support large system deployments, reducing deployment time from 3 months to as little as 1.5-3 days. Collaborate with the team to make Ansible code robust and reliable for use by non-engineers, including sailors in a lab environment. Work primarily with Linux systems, with some exposure to VMware, Windows, and other technologies as needed. Contribute to the development and deployment of systems using OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Terraform. Ensure automation work aligns with project goals and timelines, particularly in relation to CANES (Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services). Required Skills & Experience: Active TS Clearance Extensive experience with Ansible (at least 80% of the daily work involves Ansible). Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, and/or other relevant languages. Solid understanding of Linux systems; familiarity with Windows is a plus but not required. Experience with virtualization technologies like VMware. Basic knowledge of OpenShift or Kubernetes. Familiarity with Terraform for infrastructure as code. Understanding of system deployment processes and the ability to create reliable, production-level automation solutions. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Redfish or similar tools for hardware management. Familiarity with TSP (Technical Surveillance Program) processes. Experience in environments requiring high levels of reliability and automation precision. Previous work in military or ship network environments, particularly with CANES, is a significant advantage.
