Position Highlights

The Center for Applied Transportation Sciences in the College of Engineering at the University of Arizona works with partnering agencies and institutions on research and education in transportation systems management and operations, and performance management, as well as mobility on demand.

click here .Duties & Responsibilities

Database Design and ManagementDesign databases for storing transportation-related data.Design databases for supporting transportation analysis and application features.Optimize databases for fast data retrieval.Handle data sharing and integration with various applications.System DesignDesign and maintain data management lifecycle.Document system operation.Mentor students to conduct the tasks listed above.Programming Projects and Experience OptimizationAssist in the development of web back end for R/Shiny web applications.Develop tools for data I/O operations.Update and maintain existing software.Connect to and host APIs.Design user interfaces based on project requirements.Spec and set up new servers.Maintain center website.Optimize user experience on existing R shiny dashboard.Device MaintenanceMaintaining servers.Repair and setup computers for the center.Handle changes to center displays (e.g. TV Wall).Software and hardware support for center staff.IT InventoryMaintain a list of all IT-related inventory.Handle equipment check-in and check-out.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.Up to 1-year relevant work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in computer science, information system management, or engineering related field.Experience in a Transportation emphasis with transportation data experience preferred.
