A large system in Nebraska/Iowa is looking for PCU RN's. 36 hours guaranteed. 1 year of unit experience.Job Requirements
1 year of unit experience.# of Beds: 33Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4-5Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Young adults through geriatrics, sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, patients with complex medical issues including multisystem failureRNs required to titrate drips: YesCommon titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, Insulin; maintenance doses of IV meds (non-titratable)Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: YesAre there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: CNAs 1:10 ratioRT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.): BiPAP, AirvoAre there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Yes, RNs must read and interpretSchedule Information
Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1900, 1830-0700Weekend Requirements: Every otherHoliday Requirements: As needed to meet unit needsFloating Requirements: Can float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled CareHow many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: First week classroom then 2-12 hour shifts on the floorAdditional Details
Scrub Color/Dress code: RN: Navy BlueBusy patient flow- admitting and discharging within the same 6 hour time frame while also completing shift change.Attributes that will help make a nurse successful on this unit are a strong sense of teamwork, friendly, positive can-do attitude, engagement in positive patient experience with commitment to bedside report and hourly roundingRadius Rule: 50 milesRTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
