OPRF , is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park, Ill., a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district, with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts, River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses, a variety of programs for students with special needs, 75 clubs and activities, and 29 competitive sports. We prepare our students well for post-secondary success, with an average ACT composite score of 24 and a 94% graduation rate.

Position SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Lead Helpdesk Technician, to maintain the school district's computer and network equipment in operating condition, meeting the technology needs of the district; troubleshooting and repairing computer hardware and software, and resolving immediate computer operational problems.

Essential Performance ResponsibilitiesInstalls and maintains computer operating systems, application software, and related computer equipment (Windows, iOS and Chrome OS).Assists with imaging and configuration of end user facing systemsPerforms computer and network hardware and software repair (computers, servers, switches, printers, scanners, and programs).Maintains email and accounts; configures email and security on computers.Inspects computer and network equipment requiring specialized computer repair and troubleshooting for the purpose of identifying and verifying repair needs.Assesses malfunctions of hardware for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations.Provides technical support to users of hardware and software.Maintains the school based computer labs in good working order.Trains selected individuals for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use computer systems and new or existing software.Coordinates computer and network-related repair requests.Assists in record-keeping regarding the functioning and inventory of the school district's computers and related equipment, repairs, etc.Assists in making recommendations regarding the purchase of new computers, software, and related equipment.May need to provide technical meeting support outside of normal office hoursWill be required to be on call on a rotating schedule for support outside of normal business hoursPursue ongoing district and non-district provided training to enhance skill set both certified and non-certified

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Extensive knowledge of computer hardware and software installation procedures.Knowledge of all school district personal computer and software applications (Windows, iOS and ChromeOS).Understanding of current operating platforms, computer hardware and associated peripherals, and software applications.Ability to inspect, assess, troubleshoot and repair computer network system, hardware and software.Ability to work independently.Extensive knowledge of supporting email, internet access, WAN, LAN, WLAN, and other computer network programs, operations and protocols.Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of end-users.Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.Ability to report orally or in writing to their direct supervisor or others as required.Ability to establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues, vendors, visitors and others contacted in the course of employment.Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.Ability to do basic mathematics, and perform some complex arithmetic operations.Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills.Analytical, problem-solving and creative-thinking skills required.Experience with MDM, Microsoft and Google deployment and and management toolsFamiliarity with deploying, maintaining and supporting web content filteringExperience with systems security and maintenance of software and hardware related to overall security of the district's technology initiatives.Experience with VoIP technologies and the ability to provide support

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:Works in standard office and school building environments. Minimum 50 lbs lifting ability

Qualifications ProfileAny combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

High school diploma.Related college or technical school coursework.Documented training in computer hardware, software and network use, troubleshooting, and repair.A+ certification and networking certifications preferred.Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.Significant successful related experience in computer and network installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
