JOB INFORMATION:
Job Title: Senior Business AnalystLocation(s): Garden City TerminalFLSA Status: Exempt
JOB OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the General Manager - Process Excellence, the Senior Business Analyst gathers and analyzes information for developing and modifying data processing projects. Managing assigned resources, the Analyst assists in the design of automated projects, works closely with personnel in user areas to gather relevant information and to define project objectives, documents fact-finding and study results and makes formal presentations of findings, recommendations, and specifications in written and in oral formats.
Upholds the values of the GPA to promote Safety, Integrity, Respect, Community, Creativity and Opportunity. Promotes a safe work environment by participating in safety initiatives and reporting unsafe conditions and behaviors.
JOB DUTIES:
Performs extensive analysis of business processes and works to add automation and automated efficiencies where possible.Recommends and oversees process change using learned change management techniques.Performs interviews, oversees and performs other data gathering activities for preliminary study and project design or enhancement.Manages the design of new data processing systems and assists with modifications to existing systems.Prepares business scenario specifications for project requirements.Coordinates the preparation of test data to insure the project conforms to business user's requirements.Oversees the testing process of new and modified systems.Leads user development teams in the preparation of user documentation.Fulfills administrative reporting requirements as necessary.Evaluates new and emerging technologies for available for use in a marine terminal environment.Prepares and manages budgets as necessary to provide required support by third party vendors.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesMust possess demonstrable skills in basic port business processes, vessel scheduling, and general port operations.Must possess demonstrable knowledge of Navis Terminal Management Systems, SAP, and Microsoft Office applications.The ability to deal effectively and professionally with the GPA staff on all levels as well as customers and the general public required.
Experience3 to 5 years experience in computer systems and systems planning Preferred5 to 10 years experience in marine port terminal operations Preferred1-3 years of analytical experience Required
EducationPreferred Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science or related field
Licenses & CertificationsTWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential Required Upon HireDriver's License - Valid state driver's license Required Upon Hire
