South Carolina Learns , established in 2013, provides fully accredited, top-notch education for grades K-12 through Cyber Academy of South Carolina (CASC) and Heron Virtual Academy of South Carolina (HVASC). We provide an individualized virtual education so students are prepared to enter the workforce or continue with postsecondary education regardless of circumstance.
The role involves managing financial operations for SC Learns and its affiliated organizations, including Heron Virtual Academy, Cyber Academy of South Carolina and Heron Foundation. Responsibilities include overseeing contracting needs, providing financial recommendations, and collaborating with internal departments for contract approvals. The position also requires managing daily administrative tasks, reviewing month-end performance, and supervising 1-3 staff members.

Manages financial operations for the non-profit board SC Learns and the schools it governs, Heron Virtual Academy of South Carolina and Cyber Academy of South Carolina.Manages contracting needs for various departments in the organizationServe as the point of contact between the schools, Stride, and the Charter Institute at ErskineProvides financial recommendations to the executive team on matters concerning school growth and other financial decisionsCollaborates with internal stakeholders, including Procurement, Finance and Legal to facilitate contract approvals and signaturesBriefs management on budgetary mattersAnalyze financial data to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities, making recommendations to optimize financial health.Oversee expenditures for grants awarded to SC Learns or to the Heron FoundationLead daily and monthly administrative tasks such as Purchase Order (PO) and vendor invoice managementReview month-end accruals and prepare GL change requestsAssist in analysis of month-end performance to budgetProvide data management and analytical supportMaintain compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, and ensure timely and accurate filings.Serve as the primary contact for financial audits, working with external auditors to conduct annual audits.Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Required Education : Bachelor's degree in finance or related field
Required Qualifications
Three (3) years of professional work experience in project/program management, quantitative analysis, accounting and/or financial analysis.Ability to manage confidential information with high level of integrity and discretionInquisitive, strategic, analytical and detail orientedAbility to work independently as well as with a teamStrong communication skillsStrong knowledge of public finance, budget development, and financial reporting requirements.Proficiency with financial management software, spreadsheets, and data analysis tools.Ability to clear the required background checkPreferred Qualifications
Advanced Excel and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system experienceSchool level business experience

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 8-4 or as defined by the school.
