DNR is Washington State's primary wildland fire agency serving the citizens of our state through safe and effective wildland fire prevention, mitigation, preparedness, and suppression. Working with interagency partners, the DNR embraces an "all hands all lands" vision. To be successful in this position you need to demonstrate a strong commitment to the agency and wildland fire program's vision, mission, and goals. This position must be articulate and skilled to address current matters, as well as anticipate unforeseen issues as they arise.
This position is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and reports directly to the Deputy Supervisor for Wildland Fire Management. The functional areas include: Intradepartmental coordination and overseeing the development and implementation of policy and initiatives related to administration functions such as One Washington Initiative, IT Steering Committee, etc.DUTIESResponsibilities:
Hires, leads, and coaches direct reports.Ensures that all federal, state, and agency laws, rules, policies, and requirements that control these areas are fully met; conducts audits and reviews to ensure compliance.Builds and maintains strong working relationships with external stakeholders, executive management, wildland fire management division, regions, districts, and the Office of the Attorney General.Ensures that all staff work is completed according to expectations and deadlines established by the Commissioner and the Deputy Supervisor of Wildland Fire Management.Models and actively promotes the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion and ensures that the position's command is a safe and respectful workplace, meaning that all staff are treated fairly and respectfully and that the workplace is free from any forms of harassment, bullying, and disrespectful behavior.Continually strives to promote efficiency in the use of state resources and improve work processes and outcomes.Builds and maintains strong working relationships between operational programs.QUALIFICATIONSRequired Qualifications:
