Job OverviewA reputable civil trial and appellate practice law firm in Atlanta, GA, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its Medical Malpractice Defense team. This role involves managing civil litigation cases with a focus on medical malpractice defense. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of civil litigation experience and the ability to handle cases autonomously while meeting high professional standards. The position offers an excellent opportunity to work on complex cases and develop skills in trial preparation and courtroom advocacy.LocationAtlanta, GADutiesManage day-to-day case operations, ensuring ethical and responsible handling of all assigned cases.Track and meet critical deadlines, including answer deadlines and discovery deadlines.Draft legal documents such as answers, discovery responses, and production requests.Supervise and provide clear instructions to support staff, including nurses, paralegals, and secretaries.Conduct and cover depositions, preparing comprehensive reports afterward.Communicate with expert witnesses to provide case updates and gather insights.Analyze medical records to assist with case preparation and organize materials for expert review.Prepare for trial, including developing strategies, reviewing evidence, and collaborating with team members.Attend and represent clients during trials.RequirementsMinimum of 2-4 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in defense.Ability to handle cases autonomously with minimal supervision.Strong organizational skills to track deadlines and manage case progress effectively.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Analytical skills to review medical records and prepare materials for expert witnesses.Trial preparation and courtroom advocacy experience.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.CertificationsLicensed to practice law in Georgia.SkillsExpertise in civil litigation with a focus on medical malpractice defense.Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical abilities.Effective supervision and delegation skills for support staff.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client and witness interaction.Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team when needed.
