Job Overview
The Quality Supervisor oversees the development, implementation, execution and improvement of the Quality Management System Processes. The Quality Supervisor works cross functionally to ensure quality standards are adhered to in product development and delivery. This position is responsible for supervising the quality teams for assigned site(s).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Plant Management in the establishment, implementation and sustainment of quality initiatives to meet operational targets including scrap reduction.
- Create, maintain, and improve all aspects of the Quality Management System.
- Accountable for functional reviews to ensure products being received from suppliers meet quality standards.
- Accountable for functional reviews to ensure production is following quality standards and customers' specifications.
- Gather and report quality data and metrics in an accurate and timely manner as well as take actions or delegate actions on opportunities.
- Initiate and participate in corrective actions and problem solving activities to deliver operational excellence.
- Increase profitability through measured improvements.
- Develop quality procedures to test, diagnose and repair issues and ensure quality team is executing against standard procedures.
- Support sales and manufacturing by resolving field issues.
- Provide reliable support to all departments as required.
- Accountable for ensuring inspections are performed to ensure quality criteria are met.
- Respond to quality issues and proactively addresses improvement opportunities to avoid reacting to problems.
- Responsible for assisting in meeting production demands.
- Partner with other functions to drive operational excellence and adherence to standards.
- May be asked to assist with internal and external quality audits to ensure compliance to policies, procedures, standards, and specifications.
- Adhere to all company policies, including all safety and quality requirements.
- Creates and sustains a safe environment and ensures quality team is following safety standards.
- Accountable for new product validations and inspections.
- Liaison to all other departments on quality concerns.
- Conduct supplier validation.
- Develop and maintain Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning(APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and internal scheduled audits.
- Partner with engineering to diagnose and create engineering changes toward improving product.
- Establish improvement processes regarding customer returns.
- Provide appropriate communication to quality leader and plant management to ensure targets are met and or impediments are solved.
- Manage the quality team to ensure daily accountabilities are met and develop and maintain the training program and records of assigned team.
- Work closely with the Production team to provide job specific information to the quality team on daily production schedules to ensure proper inspections and checks are performed.
- Develop and coordinate execution of the ISO 9001 program for assigned site(s).
- Supervise the testing and other operations in the quality/engineering lab.
- Ensure assigned team is engaged and performing satisfactorily.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors degree, preferred - High school diploma or GED required
- 7 years of experience in manufacturing roles, plastics manufacturing preferred
- 5 years of experience in a quality supervisory position
- Computer proficiency (Word & Excel) required
- Demonstrated ability to develop and drive a Quality Management System
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to prioritize work and maintain multiple priorities organized and progressing
- Ability to learn and use programs such as Syspro, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively and have positive interactions at all levels within and outside of the organization
- Ability to do two mathematical operations to arrive at the solution
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

The employee frequently is required to walk, climb or balance, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
