Compensation: To $240K.Job Overview – Financial Director, ESG – 33299We are looking for an experienced professional to join our clients team as the Financial Director - ESG in this newly created role. This pivotal position will play a key role in shaping and implementing the company’s ESG financial strategy. The Financial Director - ESG will be instrumental in designing and overseeing robust internal processes and controls to ensure compliance with the rapidly evolving global ESG regulatory landscape. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and innovate at the intersection of finance and sustainability within our growing organization.Job ResponsibilitiesMonitor Regulatory Landscape: Stay informed about the evolving global ESG regulatory reporting requirements and coordinate with stakeholders to align the company’s strategy for compliance. Ensure consistency across voluntary and mandatory ESG disclosures.
Evaluate Applicability: Assess new ESG reporting regulations globally and at the legal entity level, determining applicability based on thresholds such as materiality and corporate size.
Enhance Reporting Capabilities: Develop and implement processes and systems to meet all mandatory ESG reporting requirements worldwide.
Optimize Data and Controls: Support teams in building and optimizing data flows and processes, establishing SOX-like controls across end-to-end business processes from data collection to disclosure.
Standardize Policies and Processes: Create and operationalize standardized policies and procedures for sustainability reporting, including materiality assessments, disclosure controls, and estimation approaches.
Audit Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison with external audit firms to secure limited and reasonable assurance over ESG disclosures.
Lead ESG Governance: Establish and lead a global ESG Council to drive consistency and alignment across the organization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with teams across Finance, Investor Relations, Legal, Operations, and other ESG subject areas to ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
Employee Training: Develop and deliver training programs for key employee groups on reporting processes, controls, and ESG regulatory obligations.
RequirementsExperience:10+ years of experience across ESG reporting, accounting and financial reporting, internal controls, risk management, data management, or related fields.
10+ years of experience leading and developing high-performing, diverse global teams.
Proven expertise in designing and improving well-controlled, SOX-compliant processes, with a focus on scalable global technology solutions.
ESG Knowledge:Deep understanding of ESG issues and a commitment to staying current with evolving ESG guidelines, standards, and developments.
Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects effectively and consistently meet deadlines.
Strong business acumen combined with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
High critical and logical thinking abilities, with a readiness to navigate and resolve ambiguity.
Exceptional attention to detail and accountability for driving business outcomes.
Experience with Big 4 consulting or auditing firms is a plus.
Relevant professional certifications, such as CPA, CFA, Certified Sustainability Practitioner (CSP), or Greenhouse Gas Management Institute diploma, are highly valued.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with senior management and external stakeholders.
Experience working in multinational environments and adapting to diverse business landscapes and cultures.
Proven ability to lead change, influence decision-making, and improve organizational performance.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to provide actionable recommendations.
