Job Description Select Chemistry’s Hazard Communication Specialist will author OSHA and GHS compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) in support of our regulatory program. This is a position related to our oilfield chemical division. Under the general supervision of the Director of Technology, the Hazard Communication Specialist authors and maintains Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and hazard labels in compliance with global regulations applicable to the company product portfolio.
This individual will also be involved in updating the chemical master data in our ERP system under the supervision of the Director of Technology and in coordination with the product line managers, procurement teams, and plant management.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited toResearch, prepare, author and maintain Safety Data Sheets and hazard labels in compliance with all regional jurisdictions for worldwide Select products.Ensure that personnel are aware of and take steps to comply with relevant laws and regulations.Provide technical product support for sales teams and customers when necessary. SDS tasks include: authoring new products for the US, assisting in product evaluations, GHS special projects, compliance/regulatory review of technical product documents.Maintain MSDS master data in our ERP system.Help maintain item master data within our ERP system.Help maintain formula master data with our ERP system.Provide effective written communication for customer and Frac Focus regarding public chemical disclosures. RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology or other equivalent Sciences preferred.1 year knowledge of authoring Safety Data Sheets utilizing software packages is preferred.Familiarity with regulatory programs (OSHA, EPA, FDA, DOT, etc).Experience in interfacing with regulatory agencies, evaluating, and complying with regulatory requirements.Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail in all contact with regulatory agencies.Knowledge of chemical container label composition requirements.Ability to work multiple special projects like product line reviews, large product evaluations which include several vendors and their products.Must be able to recognize, diagnose and solve common technical problems.Strong communication skills both written and verbal with experience working on teams from multiple locations.Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazardsProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), ERP systems (SAP, NAV, AX Dynamics) & other computer skills.
