Security Clearance: U.S. Secret level. This requirement cannot be waived.
System administrator is not an entry level position. It requires thorough knowledge and extensive experience following Department of Defense and civilian industry systems administration practices, techniques, and procedures. The successful applicant must know systems administration of U.S. Military automated systems enabling cyber, mission command (MC), and command and control performed in support of joint air-ground intelligence, targeting, plans, and operations. Successful candidates must either possess or be willing to obtain within three months of the start date of employment under this contract/task order, Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program certifications to the level of IAT Level II. A U.S. Secret clearance is required before beginning work. Successful candidates must be knowledgeable of joint communications planning at the operational level of war for Army and Air Force organizations including Army corps, divisions, and Air Force air operations centers. They must be skilled in joint communications including common operational picture (COP) and common tactical picture (CTP) design and management. A system administrator must possess knowledge of architecture design incorporating Army C2 Systems (AFATDS for joint fires, TAIS for airspace, DCGS-A for Army intelligence, GCCS-A for COP/CTP, CPCE for situational awareness, AMDWS for air defense and protection) and Air Force Air Operations Center Weapon System Information Systems (e.g., TBMCS for ATO and ACO processing, GCCS-J-I3 for joint intelligence and targeting). These system-oriented requirements are applicable to successor systems when fielded.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides support for moderately complex technical activities related to systems administration on Department of Defense command and control systems.
- Performs moderately complex systems administration using Department of Defense or commercially recognized systems administration practices and procedures
- Performs software installations, upgrades, patches, and Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) in accordance with systems security manuals, software users manuals, and installation instructions
- Collects and reviews systems logs to assist in proactive identification of issues that may lead to failure
- Performs basic troubleshooting and fault isolation
- Supports moderately complex data/media recovery through system backups and database archive operations
- Develops and maintains appropriate documentation including systems configuration checklists and historical data
- Maintains an existing training lab of DoD command and control systems as well as configuration-managed common client workstations
- Assists facility manager as alternate for the C2 training lab
- Assists our security manager in ensuring access controls are properly maintained in accordance with military service orders and instructions
- Assists in training less experienced personnel

- The successful candidate must also possess the ability to:
Configure assigned Army Mission Command Systems for successful communications within a joint air-ground environment
Administer Battle Command Common Services Server (BCCS) V 5 or newer.
Administer Microsoft Windows 10 workstations and be able to learn how to administer Server 2016 servers
Either administer or assist higher skilled systems administrators in administering Windows Server 2012, Server 2016, Server 2019 (or later) on a Dell R420 or similar server platform.
Install IAVAs and apply software security patches when directed
Configure assigned workstations and servers using DISA published Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
Review, understand, and react to systems logs
Document all work using prescribed methods
