About the Organization:The Bronx Economic Development Corporation (BXEDC) has been serving Bronx-based businesses for over four decades, providing them access to resources and capital needed to build a thriving community in the borough. The main mission of BXEDC is to strengthen and expand Bronx-based businesses while encouraging businesses to relocate to the Bronx, thereby maximizing employment opportunities for residents. The organization offers its clients various programs and services, including site selection, financing and financial packaging, technical assistance, special projects, procurement assistance, liaison services with government agencies, information dissemination, workforce development, and placement assistance. Additionally, BXEDC provides support for small business development and capacity building.BXEDC is looking to hire a full-time Accountant. This position has a hybrid schedule: Monday through Thursday in the office and Fridays working from home.Key Responsibilities:Accounts Payable and Receivable :Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely invoices and payments.Work with the events management team to track donations, sponsorships, and other fundraising activities.Assist the Controller in ensuring timely payments for outstanding loans and invoices.Oversee vendor management in the organization’s accounting system, Fundez.Reconcile monthly statements to fundez and verify transactions.PayrollReconcile payroll bi-weekly and generate interns' timesheets.Month End ClosingPrepare bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.Verify all monthly invoices are paid.Record accrued/prepaid expenses and update internal schedules.Review and record fixed assets and depreciation expenses.Internal ControlsAssist in maintaining adequate internal controls and financial systemsMaintain an organized electronic filing system.Provide support for special initiatives and ad-hoc projects.Qualifications and Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.Accounting or finance experience with higher education institutions, foundations, or nonprofitStrong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry.Analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and an accounting systemCompensation range: $65,000 to $75,000 based on experienceTo apply, please submit a cover letter and resume to careers@bxedc.org.
