• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; Master's degree preferred with concentration in business or human resources with accounting major or minor.
• Two to five years of professional accounting and HR experience preferred.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
• Must be able to calculate figures for all payroll, benefits, bookkeeping, and budgets.
• Knowledge of pertinent federal and state employment laws and practices.
• Knowledge and understanding of human resource, retirement plans, and employee benefit plans.
• Able to manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and accounting entries.
Job Summary
(Essential Functions)
Participate in all strategic matters relating to budget management, process optimization, cost-benefit analysis, and internal controls. Assist in preparing financial statements, forecasts and analysis for all administrative and managerial functions. Evaluate operating results for costs, revenues, budgets, policies of operation, and trends.
Assist in the direction of the human resource operations of the club. Spearhead recruiting, onboarding, and training for each department. Manage HRIS software, employee records, benefit plans, 401(k), and payroll related tasks. Supervise the professional development of all staff and lead company trainings, safety measures, and employee engagement. Work with the General Manager, the controller, and department heads to enhance the employee experience and culture.
Job Tasks/Duties
• Manage all employee related matters for the club including onboarding, payroll, employee engagement, legal compliance, employee benefits, 401(k), vacation, workers compensation, and employee recognition programs.
• Train and study state and federal laws applicable to human resource management (e.g., Affordable Care Act, Department of Labor, Workforce Services, etc.)
• Post payroll related accounting entries to the general ledger, monitor, record, and pay all benefit related vendors.
• Provide reports to management after each payroll and ad hoc reports to help department heads make informed decisions.
• Negotiate and administer employee benefits including health and life insurance, 401(k) and workers compensation; assists the general manager in making decisions about employee benefits.
• Assist the Controller in all accounting functions.
• Record all accounts payable and ensure timely payment.
• Oversees member billing and collection, answer all member billing inquiries.
• Perform daily and monthly cash reconciliations,
• Reconcile credit cards, vendor accounts, and member billing.
• Assists in preparing monthly financial statements for the club: income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows, along with required supporting schedules and reports.
• Assist in preparation of operating budgets with department heads and general manager; monitor budget versus actual and advise management on corrective actions to help assure budget goals are met.
• Prepares monthly sales taxes.
• Manages assigned projects as they relate to the department and club's needs.
• Train, supervise, and support the accounting staff.
Preferred Qualifications
• HR related certification and continued education (active or seeking).
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
• Experience using/managing Paylocity.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
