Senior Loan Accountant

CFC has a need for a Senior Loan Accountant to join the Loan Servicing team. This is a hybrid position requiring onsite work at our headquarters office in Sterling, VA, as well as optional remote workdays. The Senior Loan Accountant is responsible for the integrity of complex accounting by recording, reviewing, approving and consolidating transactions based on accounting rules and concepts (GAAP) and procedures for the Loan Accounting group.

As a Senior Loan Accountant, you will:• Execute loan related accounting functions including complex journal entries, advanced account reconciliations, reporting and monthly close duties for multiple lending organizations as well as a portfolio of syndicated loans.• Conduct loan related servicing and sub ledger functions including detailed daily reconciliations.• Perform high-level routines and queries within the loan database.• Responsible for tax-exempt bond and other guarantee invoicing and reporting.• Preparation and/or review of loan accounting management and SEC reporting including 10-Q and 10-K disclosures.• Adhere to loan accounting SOX 404 controls.• Resolve complex commitment and loan related data issues within the loan accounting system.• Respond to internal and external customer questions and requests including those of internal and external auditors.

To be successful, you will need:• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.• Four years of accounting experience required.• Previous financial institution experience preferred.• CPA or CPA candidacy is preferred.• Advanced knowledge of, and the ability to apply, financial and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).• Proven organizational and multi-tasking skills.• Proven critical thinking skills.• Proven ability to have high attention to detail and accuracy.• Advanced knowledge of general ledger and sub-ledger systems and databases.• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.• Advanced financial analysis skills.• Strong customer skills.• Advanced Excel skills.• Proven ability to independently gather, consolidate and analyze accounting and treasury data.• Ability to read and understand Financial Statements and accompanying footnotes.• Strong team and collaboration skills.• Proven ability to follow through on problems to a resolution.
