As required based on advanced job roleNotes to ApplicantsThe IT Systems Administrator Senior in the Public Safety Enterprise Services division will work as a technical expert in system administration of complex systems. The position is responsible for the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of hardware and software solutions. This position will also be responsible for automating provisioning and de-provisioning of user accounts and permissions assignment. Strong communication and collaboration skills will be utilized to work with both technical and non-technical teams across multiple City of Austin departments. The work environment is fast-paced and requires dealing with shifting priorities. This position contributes to the overall technology strategy for multiple City of Austin departments and has a meaningful impact to the services offered to Austin residents.

Critical
Employee. Critical Employees are considered necessary and vital and support activities that impact City or department operations. This work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees who are able to work at an alternative work location are required to do so. Schedules may be modified, and employees may be reassigned to another area during extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to provide essential services.

3. Makes independent decisions for procurement of technical solutions in their focus area
4. Creates, documents, publishes, and/or performs maintenance procedures and ensures all installations are in accordance with COA's specifications and IT standards/governance
5. Assists in planning, designing, procuring and delivering software and hardware purchases.
6. Ensures appropriate product specifications
7. Provides costs analysis
8. Installs new specific software releases and/or upgrades including researching, testing and implementing new technology
9. Participates in disaster recovery planning and testing, including fault tolerance and detailed disaster recovery plan maintenance
10. Communicates and interfaces with members of the IT, vendor and user communities
