Job Description
Position Title: Security Manager
Department: Security
Reports To: Director of Security
Classification: Salaried, Exempt
Compensation: Annual Salary up to $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 Based on Experience
Position Summary: Responsible for the development, implementation, of daily/Event operation of the Security personnel of the Toyota Arena and Stage Red Theater. Responsible for securing the surrounding grounds, to include perimeter, sidewalks, etc. as they relate to the ASM property line, with enough security staff. Available to work weekends, holidays, and late hours.
Essential Functions:
Supervises the ASM security activities, in such a manner as to ensure the highest possible level of security.Promotes a customer service/positive public relations approach to the execution of all his/her duties and within the security staff.Plans the service and operational work requirements of the security of the ASM.Obtains adequate facts and data, such as scheduled events and the number of participants, to determine work requirements and service needs.Maintains security policies, rules, plans, and standard operational methods, in cooperation with the Director of Security.Keeps superiors informed of security performance/problems and proposes improvements/changes as needed.Serves as the ASM liaison with all outside public safety regulatory agencies and officials or agents.Works with the Director of Security to develop security division budget proposals, and monitors expenses and other financial matters related to security and transportation to ensure compliance with approved budgets.Handles or directs, personally, high priority, sensitive or emergency operational tasks, as appropriate.Identifies problems in the quantity and quality of work and takes prompt and effective corrective action.Hires all Security Personnel.Handles employee inquiries and grievances promptly and in an impartial manner.Develops and implements a training and development program for security staff to ensure ongoing professional improvement and to rectify deficiencies in performance.Administers the ASM lost and found property program.Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Security.
Experience/Training/Education:
Required: Associate of Arts Degree in law enforcement. Two years' security experience at a supervisory level in Event Security; or a minimum of five years' successful supervisory experience in law enforcement or security career; or a law enforcement background of at least five years combined with managerial/supervisory experience in another field.
Desirable: Bachelor's Degree and/or graduation from a law enforcement academy.
License/Certificate:
Valid California Driver's License
Valid California Guard Card
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
Knowledge of:
The problems, issues, philosophies, principles, tactics, and procedures related to the management of security services. To include crowd management, talent communication, modern planning, management, budgeting, organization, motivation and communication techniques.
Relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations, court decisions and ordinances that affect security operations.
Ability to:
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, peers, and the public. Set objectives and operational performance evaluations, as well as employee management, development and motivation.Manage the technical aspects of the various security activities and analyzing the complex operational problems are critical.
Skill to:Operate modern office equipment, including computer, fax, phone, and copy machineOperate a motor vehicleOperate radio devices
Physical and Environmental Requirements:This position requires walking and standing for prolonged periods of time; some bending, stooping, and lifting may be required; may be subject to adverse weather conditions; irregular hours will be required.
